The Biggest Conman In Your Kitchen
About This Project
The Biggest Conman In Your Kitchen | Avocado Oil Fraud Exposed
Client: Oil On Tap
For this project, I worked as editor and motion designer on a documentary-style investigative video exposing quality and fraud issues in the avocado oil industry, produced for the YouTube channel Oil On Tap.
Building on the visual identity I developed for the channel's debut video on trans fats, I carried the Uniqe documentary aesthetic through this piece desaturated black-and-white cutout photography, Custom motion graphics, aged grid-paper textures, and bold white and amber accent colors to keep the channel's look consistent while giving each episode room to tell its own story.
My role covered the full post-production pipeline:
Structuring the narrative pacing and edit to build tension and hold viewer attention through a research-heavy topic
Sourcing and compositing cutout-style imagery to visually reinforce each claim made in the voiceover
Designing and animating supporting motion graphics in After Effects including lower thirds, text call-outs, and transition elements
Color grading footage and graphics to match the channel's established white/amber palette
Building the thumbnail composition in Photoshop, combining a cash stack and avocado hero image to visually signal the "fraud" angle before a single frame plays
Final export and formatting optimized for YouTube delivery
The goal throughout was to make a dense, research-based topic feel visually engaging and easy to follow while reinforcing a consistent editorial identity that makes Oil On Tap instantly recognizable across episodes.
Tools used: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro
